Keeping water free of algae and bacteria to achieve clean and transparent water is known as the disinfecting process, which is different from the sanitization process, as the symbol describes. The disinfectant process requires proper and accurate dosing due to health standards and maximum dosage guidelines set by authorities to minimize health risks. The use of organochlorides requires safe handling and adequate lockable storage facilities. Alternatives to dangerous organochlorides for disinfection are available and can achieve the same result. In fact, disinfection can be carried out without any chemicals at all, and with no need for special storage space. A system has been developed and is readily available that uses power-induced electrolysis, freeing particles of copper and silver into the water, allowing it to remain clear and clean.
