L20 - Leakage Prevention

Implementing this symbol means the business/company has eliminated all lathed brass flare nuts from their business practice. Save $ 620.00

Implementing this symbol means that the business is making sure that when air-conditioning or refrigeration systems are being installed, the director or manager makes sure that the new quality flare nuts used are not the lathed type from a brass road. The right and legal flare nuts that must be used are the injection molded type. Silver-soldering where possible is the best option. If the manufacturer supplyed equipment contains lower quality flare nuts, they are only there for the capping off of the new packaged product and are not intended for the installation of the equipment, therefore before installing the system, those flare nuts need to be replaced with the injection-molded connection or to be soldered. It is now possible to minimize leakages and avoid costly warranty work and non-warranty repairs, protecting the consumer and our ecosystem.
This has become an issue due to Electricians installing Air-conditioning systems, being completely unaware of this issue, and simply because they do not have the refrigeration knowledge that an installer should have.
As a customer asks the installer to silver solder the pipe connections on the indoor unit, if they can not, reconsider letting them install your system.

Example: One flare connection rupture possibility in a five-year period when the low-quality or cap off type flare nut is used. The possible In medium and low-temperature refrigeration applications as well as in air-conditioning installations, such connection flare nut can be replaced before the installation takes place. This type of cheaper flare nuts are often fitted on cheaper brands systems by the manufacturer and are only fitted to seal the system/unit. Such flare nut should not be used for the installation.
